The first installment on party fashion inspo!

The first installment on party fashion inspo!

Hello! I hope you are all ok and have had a good week?

In the last two weeks I’ve received no less then 33 requests for ideas on party dressing and party fashion…as well as what to wear if you don’t want to wear a dress etc etc! (Clearly the invitations for the Christmas “Dos” are beginning to roll in and lots of people are slightly panicking.) The effect this had on me was then slight panic as I was wondering when the heck I was going to be able to fit in the time to do the research on this! So imagine my relief when I saw the new collection from Baukjen for this month; as not only is it stunning, but it also is jam-packed with lots of party fashion inspiration (it’s almost as if they had planned it this way!!).

So without further ado I will start off with my two favourite dress options from this month’s drop.

Jude Dress: £139 (£111.20 with my discount)

I love the subtlety of this – it would work for those of you with a soft or warm or deep colouring and the style of it is so easy as it can be dressed up and down with different accessories and can easily be worn with either strappy heels or with long boots, therefore giving you more flexibility and end-wear options. Be careful if you are bottom heavy/ very broad around the hips though as there is a dropped waist and this could draw attention to this area and make it look wider. However, the fact that it has bat wing sleeves means that it will really help to counteract this by making you you appear wider on top and therefore bring more balance. Simple, elegant, understated…I just love this dress!

I love the styling in this picture so I thought it only right to talk about fur or shearling coats too.

Laurie Coat: £399 (£319.20 with my discount)

The Sheerling Coat £999 (£799 with my discount)

Whether you go for the real thing or you go fake depends obviously on your budget and how much use you think you will get out of it, however either option will be so useful. They can be worn over dresses and skirts for parties but I also wear mine with a silk shirt, jeans and heels or a jumpsuit in the daytime; don’t just save them for best, let yourself feel luxurious and glam at anytime! However, be careful if you are very petite though as the scale of these types of coats as well as the heavy fabric could mean you get totally swamped and look like you are wearing a bedspread! Also be warned if you are top heavy or have a very full bust as the weight of this fabric can bring extra bulk to this area.

The Odessa Dress: £119 (£95.20 with my discount)

This dress is just so elegant – I love the puff at the shoulder and the gathering at the hips – simple, timeless and flattering. Please do be careful if you are top or bottom heavy because the detailing on this dress will exacerbate the imbalance. This dress will suit you if your body outline is straight up and down and you want to bring more interest to your shape. I feel the price point is great though, as this is a dress that won’t date and so it’s an economical purchase as you will get quite a few years wear out of it – making the cost per wear very low!

Gwen Skirt: £109 (£87.20 with my discount) and Bronwen Top £59 (£47.20 with my discount)

Another option for you if you would prefer to wear separates, I love the clean lines and simplicity of this styling, by wearing these pieces together it could help to make you look more balanced even if you aren’t. I won’t get technical on you but simply put, the top will broaden the appearance of narrow shoulders and the skirt broadens the appearance of narrow hips. So chose which one will help you best and bingo! If you are balanced top and bottom – just copy the whole look!!

Emelina Sequin Jumper: £129 (£103.20 with my discount)

Emelina V-neck sequin jumper £129 (£103.20 with my discount)

Who doesn’t love a sparkly jumper; perfect for a casual party, drinks with friends or Christmas Day lunch paired with some leather trousers? I’ve included two options here with two different neckline styles. The round neck style will work for those of you with a small bust and the v-neck will work for those of you with a fuller bust. Be careful if you are very petite or have a neat hourglass shape; I would possibly size down so that the styling doesn’t look too shapeless on you and swamp your shape.  In terms of colouring either options will work for those of you in light colouring.

Lucienne Silk Shirt: £119 (£95.20 with my discount)

And finally I couldn’t do this blog without featuring a printed silky shirt; great with any leather skirts or trousers or simply with a pair of rolled up jeans and black patent high heels. Team it with your fur coat and the mix of textures will be gorgeous!

I hope all that advice helps? If you would like to use my discount code it is “Kate20aw” which gets you 20% off full priced items…do share with all your friends!
