Angel-dust sprinkling…

Angel-dust sprinkling…

…Is how my four year old described the sequin top I wore to a party on Saturday…so I thought this was the perfect title for a “party wear” blog with a slight difference. Sure, a little black dress or Le Smoking suit is always an option, but who says holiday dressing has to be so cut and dry? From off the shoulder numbers to silky dresses, I have 5 ideas for switching it up and looking festive this season.

  1. An LBD with a twist

Certainly, a classic that will stand the test of time…but why not try it with a twist…studs, feathers, sequins or slits…the choice is yours.

I loved the look of this one from Next for £38…great if black isn’t a great colour for you as the panel at the front is more of an open less intense. I also love the frill sleeve as it is really flattering if you are bottom-heavy.  For the price- its not going to break the back if you don’t get to wear it a lot…but is classic enough that it will least for next year.

  1. Seeing Green

A silky green dress is a stunning alternative to something in black…I love this option from And Other Stories £55. Could be worn with heals and a jacket for the evening or with tights and boots for the day…so you are getting your money’s worth!

3. Leather and lace

Pair a lace blouse with a leather mini skirt for the ultimate naughty-meets-nice contrast. The skirt would look equally great with a lightweight fitted jumper for a more casual occasion and likewise you could pair the shirt with some skinny jeans, boots and a biker jacket for a dress down option.

Topshop £36

River Island £30

4. Skirting the issue

Add a pop of color to an otherwise neutral look in the form of a bright red skirt. Whether day or night, it is a great look and is bound to get some attention!  Here is one idea from Reiss…in the sale at £75

or how about this idea from where you can pair the skirt with a pussy bow shirt and brocade jacket…love it!

  1. Deck the 80’s

A one-shouldered top paired with an oversized tassel earring is a great alternative if you are wanting something a bit different.

H&M: £29.99

Paired with a tassel earing also fromH&M…£6.99
